Default Sound Deadening Help With Exhaust (Noise Killer / Dynamat etc)

hi guys

fitted a new cat converter along with a kakimoto 3" system, sounds nice and quiet happy with it, afterall i do know what ive bought ! (kakimoto etc hardly quiet)

anyhow i got my iphone out and checked the db and its spitting out around 95db on driving, it drones so much

has anyone installed noise killer or dynamat / dynamat extreme with beneficial results, i respect it wont get rid of it all together but before i go spend out on either product doing the whole boot and under the rear seats etc am i just throwing money away ... (if that makes sense) i just want to kill the drone ... or rid of it as much as poss

feedback (please)

thanks for the reply as a fyi the stereo is not in the equasion if honest as its just an stereo with standard speakers and will be left as that

on the noise killer site i was looking at option number 4 (4th one down) enough to do the boot and under the back seats OR option 2 and 4

I have done pretty much the whole floor and side panels (inc doors) with dynamat xtreme. It makes a massive difference to the road noise and the speakers sound better too. Think I got all mine sent from the states as it was cheaper.

screechy thanks for the responce, but as ive mentioned above the ice / stereo scenario is the least of my concerns, all i am aiming to achieve is reducing the droning of the exhaust plan was so far depending on peoples feedback would be

1) dynamat or noise killer the whole boot and under the rear seats
2) 1" thick carpet underlay
3) then put on my subaru oem floor

if that makes sense

all my goal is , is to reduce the drone, stereo is irrelevant

I have a blitz nur exhaust and it droned i put the noise killer kit in the boot and under the rear seat now my 21 month old son sleeps in the car no problems.
You can still hear the exhaust but the drone is not noticable.

Hope that helps

the kit I got had

I sticky peice for the sparewheel well bottom
2 sticky pieces for the wheel arches
1 thick non sticky piece which covered the whole boot floor under the carpet
1 non sticky thick piece which fit under the rear seats.
all the peices are cut specifically for your car by noisekiller so you just have to stick them on so no messing about it took me about an hour to fit with a cupper half way

IN hindsight noise killer also do extra sticky pads for the rear wings and the sparewheel well walls and I ought to have got those at the same time.

thats a massive help thank you if you dont mind me asking what did it set you back in total

id of thought all of boot floor and well covered and under seats and maybe this "mat element" you described then my carpet etc should be sufficient ?

you got any pics by any chance ?

sorry fella no pics I struggle to work the laptop let alone a camera.
I would just get their boot section kit with the piece for under the rear seat and then see how you feel you could always add more if you feel it is necessary
this comes as a kit specifically for impreza and I think it cost £115 or£135 but I am not sure.definatley worth the money imho

I have heard of this before with wagons they seem to a drone a little more than the saloons how about having a non restrictive resonated section made, I know Hayward and Scott do one and I think there's a group buy still going.

Well....... I got the full kit. Most of the pieces needed trimming to fit and I noticed little or no difference when I had finished.
Maybe if my car was louder to start with it might have been more noticeable but for me it was an utter waste of time and money.
