Default HELP classic Engine Failure :-(

I own a 1999 uk turbo wagen which Im told is running a replacement RB5 engine. Ive only had the car 3 months and all has come to a stop !!!

the quick version is, pull up at round about with classic dry blower motor squeel, pull off from round about fine, half mile later "check engine" light comes on i stop at a crossing and cut out ? struck to re start but continue for another half mile on 90% power, only to hear squeel again coming from passenger side, engine cuts out doesnt want to start.
RAC turn up struggle to start but kicks in sounding very metalic'y
turn it straight off !!!

suppect piston failure ???

any ideas ????
dare I ask - ideas on price ????

Have you checked the oil level? we saw one once that siezed a cam bearing, then pulled the belt off. No oil in it.

sorry i should have mentioned, I regulary check both oil and water levels and neither have dropped at all, I also made note of the running temp at the time of breakdown which was position half way ont eh gauge - normal temp as far as my 3 months have shown.
the engine will start after a couple of try's so all belts - cam etc must be intact ?
a bearing is quiet possible because the squeel was identical to a dry heater i.e high pitch and fast oscillation ?????

help - please :-(

CHECK THE ECU CODES BY FOLLOWING THIS LINK Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Knowledge / Reading ECU Fault Codes

I'd say ask a Scooby experienced mechanic to look at it. You may find that cheaper in the long run!

"Caps Lock" button needs to be pressed to turn it off - it'll be on the keyboard somewhere, clearly labelled...
