hi ive noticed this twice now

i probs normally dont hear it because of the radio, but ive had it off recently and ive noticed when its on idle. (1.5krpm)

the rev needle doesnt move but the sound changes, to a kind of scraping sound or you could say a rattle that lasts literally only one second then goes but it happens 2 or 3 times before it gets to normal idle.

what is this? and does anyone else get it?

dont think you can hear it from outside, just inside.. never really checked though tbh as its freezing outside

 

its probaly a heat sheild or simular which is resonating only at idle.

 

As DJ says, could be heat shield, although a slipping auxiliary belt (whether alt/PAS or aircon) might fit the description you've provided.

 

i agree, i reckon it is that lol just worrying myself too much.. once youve heard the dreaded sound of a subaru bottom end, it makes you paranoid.

 

true!
my heat shields rattle all the time thats after ive twatted then back into shapand put bolts in them to stop them rattling. the only way to fix em is to remove them and lag.
