Default FAO Track Car Boys - To remove heater or not?

Alright, im trying to decide if i should remove the heaters from my track car or not... I know on the last track day i did (it was raining in the morning) and i had bother with the windscreen steaming up, so was using the heaters to de-mist the windscreen.

Now what are the rest of you track car boys doing? have you removed the heater? whats your windscreen like for steaming up?

For all out track car, then maybe, but think about a heated screen. For a road/track car, then no, not worth it, go on a diet instead!

Had a track Saxo without a heater a while back. Total pain in adverse conditions to the point of missing track time trying to clear windows.

Aye thought something like tht may happen, but wonder how all these other track cars / rally cars does it without heaters?

This is kinda putting me off removing it, might just keep it in

I would keep it. The more internal metal that is exposed the greater the condensation you're gonna get. KEEP IT !

Okay perhaps I should rephrase. If it's an all out competition car, then ditch the heater, if you're going to track it in the wet, then keep it, it works well and you wont enjoy your trackday less due to carrying an extra 12kg or so around.

If you want to save the weight and have a demist function a heated screen costs around £400 fitted.

If for track days then as Paul said - 12kgs isnt going to ruin your day. Lots of tracks are cold, wet, damp and that makes a big difference.

It can also help to shed some overheating from the engine ....
