Default Secondary Air Pump have I been done?

Code 51 ? on engine management system fault dealer changed the pump but charged me over £700. I thought Subarus were reliable! Can't be the cold weather surely.

Expensive hair drier! Got a breakdown of the bill?
Sounds harsh not being a warranty job. I take it that the 3 years are only just up, but at only 29k miles it sounds like IM were sticking to their guns.

Interesting thread on how much work's involved in taking one of these off here
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...been-done.html
along with quite a bit of discussion on pros and cons of doing away with the part altogether.

£700 seems like about the going rate for dealer replacement, albeit towards the upper end of the scale.
