Default 2005 sti type uk PPP question

hi

this is my first newage impreza after always owning P1's.

it is a standard sti running standard power.

i have sourced the following as i want to PPP it for some more power. i have bought a new walbo 255, got the later PPP sports cat and de-cat pipe, prodrive back box.

fitting the parts isnt an issue the problem i'm having is deciding on the ecu. do i buy a 2nd hand PPP one and get it coded to my car or will i fit all the parts then get a remap from andy forrest? i can also get a WR1 ecu if that would be better and get me a little more power?

is a 3 port boost solinoid needed?

also is it ok to fit the pump, the full PPP exhaust and run the car about with just my ecu in it in the mean time?

sorry for the long post just new to this stuff and any help will be appreciated.

andy

If the car is out of warranty then I would go with a custom remap, better power and probably cheaper than doing the ppp.

the PPP kit fitted from the dealer is 2k plus vat!

i have sourced all the parts for 400. can get a PPP ecu for 140 and 50 to code it to my car.

think the andy forrest remap is around 500 plus vat!

Yup the cost of the map is more for a custom one, but you will have more power and better power delivery

Tony

thank you for your help mate.

will that exhaust set up am fitting still be good enough? not interested in the 3" ones of that not wanting it that loud and a like the note from the prodrive one,

can i fit the system the now and run the car on my standard ecu till funds allow the remap?

Your exhaust will be good enough for 330-340bhp

You don't need to buy a PPP ecu - in fact it would be a waste of money if you did. Your standard ecu will be absolutely perfect.

Where are you based?

You are fine to fit the pump but fitting the decat centre and sports cat will need to be driven off boost til mapped.

A 3 port solenoid will probably not be needed but it will not harm the mapping. Again, if you fit before mapping please drive off boost until mapped as it will overboost madly.

The PPP is designed to be a generic solution for Subaru dealers to cope with. It's meant to be safer than a comfy pillow, and there's no doubt whatever that the standard car is capable of a better output, if it's carefully set up.
The difference, in our experience, is a country mile.

thanks for the replies i'm learning slowly! ive decided to go for the remap now. may also fit a 3 port boost solenoid too.

i'm interested in the andy forrest remap as he is also only an hour away from me.

only thing i dont like the idea of is the 2 stage switchable map i would like it just to be mapped and thats it ruinning full power!

2 stage maps are optional. You can just opt for the standard remap. Probably a bit cheaper too.
