Default 100 miles out of a full tank :O is that normal !!!

Hi guys, i haf full tanked my impreza, and it returned 96 miles, is this noirmal for a subaru, i have a full decat axhaust system, chiped ecu, hks induction kit and thats it.

could it be my fuel pump need changing, as when i put my foot down, it feels like it hold back for 2 secs and then spits the fuel like a fireball and den Woooosh of i go, and also i then smell fuel, could it be my fuel pump playing up, and could this be the reson why im geting such terrible miles outa full tank of v power.

Thanks guys

Any fault codes?
Any fuel leaks?

I've just got 250miles from 50quids worth of v power. I dont think its your fuel pump, can you smell petrol at any other time than when you put your foot down??

Definatly something up there. Even hammering the nuts of my STI which has PPP will see it return 225 miles to a tank of Tesco 99.

Best to date was 316 miles before the petrol light came on

Hi Mate,

I would say that's not normal. But...

When I bought by Scooby I managed to get 90 out of a full tank, but I literally caned it everywhere I went on purpose to see how much I could scare myself and that was with no mods.

After that, wooow I thought, perhaps I should have stayed with my 4 litre Jag for environmental / economy reasons

Since then I calmed it down, quickly, I get around 225 out of my WRX around town in lots of traffic jams and 250+ on a run.

So me thinks you have problems with your car.

Hopefully someone else's advice will help you sort it.

Nick.

Details! you definitely need a primary lambda sensor, not necessarily a secondary or heat sensor, but you wouldn't normally just lop it off!
Did they use a Samurai sword?
Take it to Subaru man, and hand over keys sharpish, you may be bore washing like mad, and Greenpeace will be on your tail.

the sensor you are talking about is the cat on fire sensor, which is not needed when you fit a decat exhaust, but as others have said you obviously have a problem, get it to a Subaru specialist, where about in Lancashire are you, as there are scoobyteknix up that way

if i were you i would be getting one fitted as they play apart in helping controle your fuel injection system when mine was faulty my car was running rich & mpg was down quite significantly to normal but not near as bad as yours maybe you should take your plugs out & have a look to see what colour the tips are this should indicate how your engine is running!

my car is a my00 running around 340bhp & now it still returns easily 300 miles to a tank of v-power

I have a freshly built engine, new Lambda, coilpacks etc and get around 250m on the combined cycle on 50 litres, or 5m per litre.

So really, you're miles off - even taking into account an aged/tired engine!

I'd first check your fuel system over thoroughly: fuel lines/filter, injector seals/rails, FPR, etc. And check lambda is cycling back and forth between 0 to 1V...

If I'm reading this right you only half filled your tank, I wouldent say your too far off the mark depending how heavy you have been with your right foot

Ahhhh, half instead of have, right?

That would explain it it bit better. But that's still 'only' under 200m a tank, which is a little off... UNLESS that's lots of hooning involved...???

FTR, it works out at c.17.5mpg, so yeah, a semi-hooning mpg figure lol.

But in future - and unless that's genuine typo - could you pleeeeease make an attempt at writing the word correct first time - as then we wouldn't have wasted 30 posts to date...
