How can this happen

Was the injector properly seated in the rail before you fitted the cap and tightened it down? - if you try to install the injector by tightening the cap down onto it, you run the risk of breaking the cap.
What injectors are you fitting?
I have some Phase2 caps - PM me

you need a fitting kit for fittin bigger inj into a classic
as some bigger inj are slightly longer
i tap the injector home with something - making sure its seated correctly before trying to fit the cap

im not sure on that.
these are phase 2 injectors which came out of my phase 2 fuel rail
they fit well in my standard rails and the rest seem to fit well in my new high flow fuel rails. im gonna get a new cap and try again.

sorry mate i didnt know the details
if the rest fit ok, maybe the injector just wasnt quite seated correctly.
either way fit the new cap and im sure youll tighten up with caution lol

If no joy on here, id look at eBay mate SUBARU ENGINE BREAKING, Vehicle Parts Accessories, Local Services, Cars, Motorcycles Vehicles items at low prices on eBay.co.uk
Completly forgot: Scoobyteknix will have one for sure, they are always breaking cars, so 4 outside their unit yesterday and bucket loads of parts boxed up too. Ask for Brian: http://www.scoobyteknixuk.com/

Ok my fuel rails don't fit it looks like I need to shave some metal off the rail or the manifold. Surely that can't be right. Having said that they fit when I turn them round but needs a adaptor plate to mount.

Your an engineer right?
Well it's a little harder for me I was a Dr that played with cars with a ample knowledge. However, I had a brain tumor removed last year and it has left me with a few memory problems. So at the mo I am trying to re-learn what I once new.
The simple things are a lot harder now

To not open a new thread.
I got second hand Power Enterprise 550cc injectors for phase2 (car is my99 STi), but with no original caps, which as far as I see on leaflet should come with it.
The question is if I can use the standard ones? Aren't they too tight?
In original installation there's a small rubber piece in a cup - can I just remove it and put the cap over the PE injectors? Won't it be too tight?
There's a small, round, metal part at the top of injector (please excuse my ignorance, not sure - top of injector's needle?), in the center, going inside - which I guess is moving up and down when injector works? Won't the cap block it? Maybe I should use some washers to make some space there with original Subaru caps?
Injectors are sh550, like those on pics below - of course with collars, just no caps:
Any help very much appreciated.
