my guess is the clutch fork is the wrong way round?
did the release bearing engage on the clutch cover?? did you hear a pleasant click?
Is the fork solid or is it able to move at the moment??

you can rule out fitting the clutch fork the wrong way by looking for the dent on one side were the pin from the slave cylinder will sit and push against, when i did mine i tapped it home with a hammer as it woulnt engage into the cluch plate did this b4 refitting the slave cylinder and tapped towards the rear of the car, but one of the lugs on one side of the bearing was missing so was going to be difficult to re fit anyway....are you sure the clip on the rear of preasure plate was fitted to the groove in the finger correctly b4 fitting preasure plate?
