STI Type UK Remap figures please...
Just wondering what a standard Type UK STI can make with a custom remap if everything else was standard?

ppp normally makes about 300..
standard no changes around 310~320bhp and about 310~320lb.. not very often get to play with a standard one.. ppp equipped with just the ppp mods usually 320~330..
decat is usually 330~340+.. although the peak power and torque is not the only gains with a custom map.. better throttle response, mpg, and more power and torque throughout the rev range.

03~04 sti blob engine are better than sti bug and 05 2litre sti blob engine is a peach, but same applies to all with regards to mods and figures give or take a bit. Sometimes there are nice exceptions..

My 03STi with PPP cat and Scoobyclinic 3" middle and rear made 328/300 on Scoobyclinic remap. I was a little disappointed with only 300 ft-lb and was told that a full decat would improve this. Goes much better than PPP alone, not just outright performance it has a lot more "driveability". PPP only gives 300bhp as the map is designed to protect engine under all conditions to be warranty friendly.

seen exceptional cars make 345bhp with ppp sportscat but would be foolish to post that as the norm as then people would be disappointed when the car makes normal numbers

You do need to mod the car to get decent figures out of it, the above graph was with a full 3 inch decat system, GT spec 2 headders and up pipe, perrin intake elbow and 10% methanol. Mapped by Andy F to about 1.55 bar of boost
I had my exhaust housing ported on the VF35 due to me suffering boost creep on an earlier map

Nice figures Graeme. The OP did ask about mapping an otherwise 100% standard car. Obviously yours is not quite standard now
Std non-ppp car benefits a lot from remapping but ultimately the cats restrict the performance and what can be done. Removing these and the power and torque increases dramatically.

Excuse my ignorance. I am new to turbo'd cars, but how can a standard STI with 265bhp make 310-320 after a remap and nothing else (an increase of 45-55bhp) , and a PPP STI with 300bhp standard only increase to 320-300 after a remap (an increase of only 20-30bhp)?
That being the case the STi PPP seems like a waste of money?

yep.. sti ppp not worth the extra imho.
custom map for the individual car rather than a generic one fits all map etc..
the ppp only makes a little more than its current power as it is mapped slightly higher powered to start with etc

I currently have the second cat removed. Do I need the first cat removed with a decatted up-pipe or sports cat to release more power? What is the best panel filter and what else should I consider before a remap to achieve maximum power/torque gains? Fuel pump? What are tubular manifolds and boost regulators etc?

depends on budget but yes the more you do the better end result.
there is no cat in the uppipe on the sti.
panel - k&n and green cotton work well
fuel pump is worth doing yes.
no need for a boost regulator (boost controller or fuel pressure regulator) but a 3port boost solenoid would be a nice to have item

Now I'm confused? So why do all these companies sell decat up-pipes for the 2001-2007 STI if there is no cat there to start with?
There are 2 cats on the STI? I still have one in the uppipe ie the bit from the second cat to the turbo?

Doesn't the downpipe contain the second CAT? I have a straight through to the rear silencer here. Its the bit that bends close to 90 degrees up toward the underside of the engine that definitely has a CAT or some form of metal bulge in it?
My local mapper even said I need an up-pipe for maximum performance. So if there is no CAT in the up-pipe what is the performance benefit in changing it to a pipe with er....no CAT in it?
