Default Car hesitant before boost

Hello

I have a 1997 turbo 2000

I have had a few probs with it ober the winter mainly with it spluttering and getting a fuel smell in the car. And revs going up and down

I did a few things replaced coil pack and HT leads

Cleaned out boost solenoid

Cleaned Idle Valve

Checked for air leaks

then replaced the MAF which solved 90% of my problems

the problem I am now getting is from cold. Car starts fine, idle seems fine then is a bit spluttery but this improves as it gets warm but it still feels a bit sluggish until the boost kicks in the i'm off like a rocket

I do have a couple of mods a decat pipe and air cone but it all was fine previously to my MAF problem.

has anyone had similar problems and what was the remedy?

Did you reset the ecu after fitting the maf?

IIRC your MAF is of the weaker breed and therefor is suseptable to damage by the IK cone so is only a matter of time before it goes again

Apart from that you will be drawing in 'warm' engine air instead of nice 'cold' dense air that you need (for max bhp) and would get from the OE airbox with a KnN or Green panel filter fitted

Prob not the answer to the question but may save you £££ in the near future
