Default Newage sti engine in classic ver3

Is it easy providing you run the right ecu like simtek or solaris. Is there a lot of custom work required?

Thanks in advance

I have a newage bottom end from a my01 (bugeye) in my V3 STi ra mate with my better V3 Sti heads. That way you can keep your ecu, inlet, headers and so on. The new age bottom end (STi for STi) has a much stronger crank and less likely to die like the old classic ones. This is just what I found out when I was changeing over and as always is open to debates. The only difference plumbing and wiring wise was the newage bottom end (2l) has an extra breather which you need to plug up..

Bottom ends easy swaps as you no, but if retaining AVCS you would need custom looms and one of the ecu's you have mentioned fair amount of work.

Idle control also an issue.
Fair bit of custom work.
Thought you had a 2.1?

Coops1 cheers for the info I am Aware the Bottom end can take much more I just really wanted the avcs heads

neil thanks for the info mate I think I'll have to give it a miss now as you and Simon done a good job putting me off (",)

Simon I do still have the ver 4 type r with a 2.5 but down sizing everything my smart roadster for a normal smart, turning the type r to standard within the next month or two so the type r will be sold as I've just bought an sti ra ver3 dirt cheap with no engine no box and hardly any interior I was thinking safest way for 340- 360 bhp a 16g with some meth and that's it IMHO I don't think anyone will need anymore than that for a road car. There's always going to be someone faster and beside mrs really wanting a house now so I can also release some funds.

I just saw some of the scooby clinic time attack cars and I thought great idea but I guess everything at a price.

Couldent you just swap the loom as well so its a direct straight swap, you would only need the ECU then? or is that too straightforward?

you can do that but the loom merges at the dash and clocks to gets more complicated..
than just moving it over.. dash and clocks can be altered to fit but just depends how much work he is willing to do
