Default What type of oil?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what type/grade of engine oil I should be using for my MY06 (Hawkeye) Impreza WRX STi with PPP please? I've looked in the manual and can't find it. All I can find is different W ratings depending on what climate you're in :-/

Cheers

Hi

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

5w-40, 5w-40 oil, 5w40, 5w/40

Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Gulf Formula G, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

Tim

Yes, I probably could do that for all the standard cars but it will have to be a fairly basic list as there are so many available. It's probably better to just ask us for each car.

Thanks for the advice. When you say synthetic I'm assuming you mean fully synthetic, not semi?

I'd go for a full synthetic

15w/40 oil in cold weather could be a disaster for an Impreza. It takes oil ages at that grade to get warm and starting the car on a cold morning day after day is bound to cause issues. 5w/40 is a far safer option especially this time of the year.

The 15w-40 is also most likely to the be the bottom of the range oil, generally just mineral multigrades. Millers do some great oils (CFS range) but 15w-40 mineral I would not put near a impreza or evo.
