Default what do you think????

hi iv recently bought a 93 import wrx import im gonna quickly go over the mods..

full stainless with decat pipe, blitz induction, dump valve, alloy header tank, sti rad, uprated fuel injectors, think thats it but take a look in my engin bay

PistonHeads.com

Quickly go over history of problems, car was bought last sat 360 miles away, guy has done 300 miles in last three years acording to mots. very well looked after. took me for 10 mile test with no issues, drove it home and was fine for 100 miles boosting fine was enjoying my first run in a subaru. then 100 mile into jerney pulled of at motorway to fill up on vpower which is all the previous owner had used and all i have used. when i pulled out onto motorway notticed a judder as it did not boost fully. it then did not boost fully for a while was really quite bad would not go over 100 mph. 10 mins later fine boosting again since the has got stedilly worse for first few days was boosting 80% of the time now its boosting 20% of the time. it feels like its absoulutly fine when its ok flying but when its not it feels like its an air prob to me, its trying to boost but theres just no kick its juddery takes a long time to get to 0.9 boost and it judders all the way there. when im in really low revs (cold) the car almost chokes when trying to pull away for a second but give it a rev and its fine.

Things iv done/ checked

done diagnostics test with connectors under dash getting fault code 32 oxygen sensor. (been told if i had other issues could flag this sensor)

Took of and loocked over i/c, induction, dump valve, only prob i found was there is a short pipe on the bit that your induction goes onto which is bunged up with a steel plug that was spliit and the previous owner had gaffertaped up and jublee clipped so cleaned it down super glued cracks shut, then a further layer of super glue then tape that turns to rubber when hot and re-fitted evrything back to see if this was the issue, this has not fixed the problem. and im 100% sure i stopped any air from escaping, Im gonna go to the clinic if i need to but know it must be something small and one of you guys may be able to point me in the right way through exsperience.

Any help appriceated.

Hi,

First thing i would do is give the boost control solenoid a good clean through with brake/clutch cleaner, as its not done a great deal of miles in the last year it may be sticking.

Secondly, reset the ECU,this will clear any old/stored faults then do a fault check and see what pops up.

Thirdly, get rid of that hot air sucking blitz cone and refit the OE airbox with a KnN or Green panel.

The steel bung is just a blank for the hole where you OE recirc DV fitted.

Whilst you had the IC off did you sort all those bent fins out? Dont take much, an hour or so and a pair of long nosed pliers

cheers b13bat, did an ecu reset this mornin no joy, no didnt straigten the bits in the ic but will do this weekend< only found out about the boost selunoid cleaning last night but had no brake/cluch cleaner will do that asap, i really like this forum but i think its really funny that a load of subaru drivers like to pretend that they dont go fast or dont boost a lot and winge on here about people that do, think its some sort of over compensation as everyone thinks we scooby drivers are idiots. i may drive fast sometimes but when its safe i aint the guy doin 80 in a 30 zone i understand what ur sayin about public forum but just stop stating the obviouse and go help someone if you can

not sure what scoop it is not sure if it was straight swap was done when i got it, have a look at the i/c and see if it looks like o/e i never seen one before. just cleaned the boost selunoid, when i conected the greens and turned ignition was making the noises but also it was clicking quite fast and loud as soon as i squirted brake cleaner in it stoped straight away no more clicking, got all exited thinking it had fixed it but no it has done nothing. Boost seems to go up to 1.9 easier on the gauge but still no kick. the more i thought about it the more i think the intake like u said might be a problem (hot air) do you think that could cause these probs and if so why would someone put it on??? ill find out what scoop it is, someone said it was of a new scooby

It should click fast and loud when you connect the test wires and also during use. If it has stopped then it could be your problem, poss clean again until in clicks constantly

No, i doubt the IK would cause this problem.

I believe that scoop is based on the high Blobeye STi one and is designed to fit the MY93-96 ph.1 bonnet.

HT Autos, and others, make them and sell them on eBay. Can't remember if HT Autos' one has the vertical slats though.

Also DR Motorsports sell them - and they can paint them too, before sending it out......

try cleaning your maf as if any dirt/oil off the filter has got in it could cause to give faulty info to the ecu.
