Default dumpvalvless

got a classic and fitted a fmic , so needed to buy another dv. got an hks one second hand and the car juddered really badly on lifting off from light throttle, also had idle issues,

anyone recommended tome buy a forge unit as it has different spring rates availabel, ended up buying turbosmart as its adjustable and it idles much better and almost totlally got rid of the judder on light throttle

any whilst being mapped i was told id probably need to just ditch the dv altogether, i think some cars/setups just dont get on with them, and as my car runs a tdo5 should be able to cope

so removed it and it is still slightly doing it? any ideas?

its a 94 sti, with

fmic, walbro, apexi power fc, apexi avcr, blitz turbo back exhaust

also it actually sounds like the dump valve is still on the car lol

Sorry mate couldn't resist

Seriously, I think your post illustrates PERFECTLY why OEM ones should just be left on i.e. the engine is designed to work 'properly' with the OEM one fitted.

Prob not the answer you want... but I'm convinced it's the best answer....

Just blank it off and get any compensations made when you get the APexi remapped. TD05 16g's are as cheap to replace second hand as buying a nice forge recirc. Had mine blanked with similar mods no bother.

Anything that affects the AFR is a good idea to do before mapping. Do it and see how you get on.

Simtek is a better solution.

Running dumpvalveless wouldnt be an issue with a MAP based system such as Simtek.

Hi Jeff : Give me a ring if you want to talk it through but running your original was an option. I may have a secondhand one here and certainly an STi 3 O/E for very little if that is the way you want to go short term.
