oil cooler position

if hot airs bad, why would hot oil be good? i don;t know why people would want to fit one there, just asking for oil temp issues
you can fit it between the front lower and upper cross member in front of the rad with ease.

Most of these that I see are on cars that don't have oil temperature guages so probably the owners have no idea if they need them in the first place and certainly have no idea on their effectiveness.
I am sure there are lots of cars on the road with the oil temperature too low and grossly low on short journies and during the winter. Not good for the engine.
In my experience very few Classics need oil coolers and even when tracked they are usually quite safe.
I have noticed that 2.5s and New Age generally run 10C higher or more but again, if you don't fit an oil temperature guage then you are acting in ignorance as far as I can see.
A good combined oil pressure/temperature guage is only £90-100 or thereabouts and you can learn a lot about the running of your engine.

In Portugal where i live, during track-days or highspeed runs even on winter my impreza classic some times reaches 120 celsius degrees.in summer is really hot and temperature of oil also rise sometime well above 100 degrees on normal daily driving in town or low speeds. im always looking at oil temp gauge.

So no matter if car doesnt need it most of the time, but when it does, its there.

Mine is fitted in place of the OEM IC, and it has a thermostat in the system.
Oil warms up slightly slower due to increased volume in the system, and only goes over 90 degrees sat in congested traffic, once moving it stays around 88 degrees, ( 400 bhp and track use see around 100 degrees ).
