What boost can I run on this turbo? Currently running at max of 1.5bar & some have called me a poof for running the boost too low

Cheers, TX.

I think with this turbo it is not how much boost can the turbo handle,it is how much boost can your engine and gearbox handle!

On this turbo, there is no benefit in trying to wring every last bit of boost out of it, you'll just be blowing hot air. Dependent on engine spec, 1.8 bar through the midrange and trailing down to about 1.6bar seems to work well. You can push 2.0bar throught the midrange if you like and your engine's up to it.

You will need an aftermarket boost controller or ecu to run over 1.55 bar of boost.

As said the turbo will run whatever your engine / gearbox is capable of but more boost doesnt always mean more power/torque.

Sorry to jump in. I realise that the OEM ECU won't support boost over 1.55 Bar, but will fitting a boost controller enable you to run more boost without swapping out ECUs???

Yes, Apexi AVCR or the likes will allow you to do this. You will need a minor map change to set the boost limit for CEL and Fuel Cut higher.

TX, ignore that incorrect advice from Dynamix, you are not limited to 1.55 bar by your ECU or your existing boost controller.

Andy.

Mine hits 1.65bar and tails off at 1.55 then to 1.5bar mate.

On 2.0ltr with TMIC btw.

Interesting point about boost above - will increasing it from 1.5 to 1.8 / 2.0 make much difference to power, in gear acceleration etc?

I was running 1.65bar from low 3k rpm to redline on mine after Andy mapped it(no boost controllers) Turned it down to 1.5 after getting a SimTek.

Will be going for 2bar when I get a built motor and a FMIC.
