Default oil temp gauge fitting

hi guys. ive bought an oil temp gauge to fit in my uk 96 classic turbo 2000, ive bought an adapter that i have read goes into the bung above cylinder No3, is this right? i had a quick look last nite and couldnt see the bung but i did see a bung above the cylinder closest the passenger side headlight, will this work?

p.s i have a front mount intercooler so dont need to remove top mount to get at bung on cylinder 3 (if there is one)

i'm an impreza newbie so please bare with me, struggling to tell what years, models, and types are what? classic/newage/etc

many thanks
steve

Not to sure on layout of classic pipework. But it is just to the right of the turbo looking from the front, I had to move a breather pipe to get tom mine on a Bugeye.

It certainly does. It's down in front of the turbo, about 25mm across with an 8mm hex socket in it. You need a long Allen key to remove it.

Yes, did it on my blobeye. Look in the Interior forum and there is a gauge fitting guide. I posted some differences to the guide I found (as it was done on a classic) for blob WRX

Same on a blobeye. If you have a TMIC, it's easier to remove it to get at the bung. You DO need a GOOD LONG 8mm Allen key to remove it. And use some PTFE tape to help seal the adaptor to the block. Not too much or your gauge will have earthing problems
