BOV Question
Hi there,
Just bought a universal SSQV BOV for my 05 blob... looking at the original DV, it appears to have a flange attached which bolts to the intercooler. The BOV doesn't; does anyone know if there are adaptors out there to solve this problem?

Sorry to say you were told bollox - actually the opposite is true to what you were 'recommended'!
The OEM recirc has been R&D'd by Subaru to make sure it works perfectly with how Subaru progrmmed the ECU. Aftermarket VTA BOVs jettison the air (that would normally go back into the intake tract) to atmosphere. This is after the MAF, so the ECU is programmed to 'expect' it (seeing as it can't be measured, therefore accounted for, by the MAF). So the abscence of that 'extra' air means momentary rich fuelling and can lead to hesitation, and general horribleness upon applying the throttle again....

Sorry dude. Good thing is you'll easily be able to flog the SSQV for decent coin (if a genuine one) and return to a cheap OEM one again. So money back in pocket again... to maybe spend on a fresh panel filter and a set of PFR7B plugs or something...

Better to learn now than afterwards. If it's brand new, as you haven't yet fitted it you can return the valve unused and get a refund, spend the money on something that'll actually improve the car.
Might be worth ignoring whoever gave you the recommendation in future too. If this has been sold to you as a mod that would "improve driveability", whoever suggested it was clearly talking from where the sun don't shine.

I am a big fan of bov's,after having 3 different types in 8 months, but the truth of the mater is as said above - it wont improve the driveability of you car or spool up your turbo any quicker.
I was going to right a report on the findings that i have found on my car after using 3 different dump valves, but it would not be right to post that yet as i have only had the standard recirculating valve back on the car for 16 days,so i ill wait till 1 month has elapsed then post the results - but up to now i dont think the recirc will be coming off imho.
