From memory, the 1997/8 heads have a chamber volume of 46cc, the 99/00 has 49cc

I think a std STi 5/6 engine uses thin 0.6mm HGs. But it all depends on your STi 3 (or 4) pistons as mentioned.

Is a 3cc lesser chamber volume really enough to significantly increase the CR, and therefore thicker gaskets required? Don't know?

i suppose though if thats the case i cant use any less then 0.55 mm gaskets as they dont exist so should be fine with that thickness as it should run a lower comp due to the larger cc of the 5 heads.

Oh right, so the v.5/6 heads have more volume than the v.3/4 ones? In that case you're pretty much back to square one re the CR - so I'm sure the OEM 0.6mm ones will be fine....
