Default Best oil for a MODDED blobeye wrx

Hi,

Im wanting to do an oil change at the weekend to my blobeye wrx. This will be the first time since its been modded. Its running 320bhp with standard internals and I was wondering what the best grade and brand of oil to use would be?

Thanks Jon.

You have several options, a 5w40 fully synth, a 10w40 fully synth, a 10w50 fully synth or a 15w50 fully synth.

Any of those weights will be fine ^^^

But I think the specific 'recommended' ones are 5W-30 and 5W-40 for your car.

From that list 10W50 is my choice, thin when it's cold and better high temp. protection...

Mine is an STI and I use 10W60 for the odd trackday.

All IMHO.

10W-50 suits most apps IMO.

Indeed, I'm getting oil/filter changed at APi on Sat, with own supplied Silkolene Pro S 10W-50...

Wll be putting 10W-40 in my Hawkeye STI at the next oil change. It's currently got 5w-40 in it.

Don't put a 60 in! It's treacle-like. Considerably thicker than a 50, when at 100deg C.

A 50 is as far as you need to go. If a 50's not available, use a 10W-40.........

10 is the cold rating, 60 the hot, the higher the hot rating the thicker the oil, so a 60 is about twice as thick as a 40 at 100 deg c, do you really want that? it slows you down and wont protect as well.....

Millers do a nice 10w40 and 10w50 fully synth oil, probably a good one to go for

10w-60 is too thick, it doesn't flow quick enough in that engine to dissipate heat. I think I'd go with a 5w-40 unless you track the car, in which case I'd go for a 10w-50, but a good ester based one.

5w-40, 5w-40 oil, 5w40, 5w/40
10w-50 oil

Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300V, Redline, Millers CFS and Gulf Competition are the ones to go for.

I think 10w60 is a no go. You know how youve put 10w50 would be good if i use it for track. Well i dont use it for track but when i use the car it gets lets say gets a good work out. so would that be a factor.

I'd use a 50 if you like to work the car at the top of the rev range for reasonably extended periods, yes.
