Default what to do with my 2.5 forester

Hi people, have owned an 05' 2.5 xt forester for a while and have been thinking about getting some more power out of it and have read some of the threads left by other members as to who the best tuners are, unfortunatly none that I have seen listed are very close to me, I live in the Maidstone Kent area. Does anyone know of any ecu mapping company's and or engine tuners around my area which could be recommended

Thanks Simon, I take it that you have all had your motors chipped as part of power upgrade as was wondering which ecu you have gone for and why, I know its a bit of a liberty picking your brains like this but as a novice it a good idear to get as much info as possible because they all say they do a bloody good job, well they would would'nt they, cheers for the info any more you might want to impart, john.

On your car the standard ecu is mappable.. (similar to the old term chipped, but the standard ecu's rom file is rewritten may times and custom to your car, rather than a generic map added via a chip).

My own cars - I have an 03 Sti which I use a SimTek aftermarket ecu on and making 451bhp and a Classic I use a Syvecs aftermarket ecu whcih makes 540bhp.. but the 03 Sti I could do on the orignal ecu but wanted antilag and launch control because I am tart

On your car I would recommend as stage 1 an ecutek remap, possibly with decat or sportscat downpipe and replacement of rest of the exhaust to your noise taste.
stage 2 would be to fit the turbo off a uk impreza the td04 and remap whcih is a nice upgrade on the forester.

Hi Simon, so how much are we looking at for the re-map for stage 1, and what sort of bhp does that develop, bearing in mind the other mods requiered which I know about ie: exhuast; injecters, ect. My 05 model is stated at 208 bhp so it would be nice to see how much difference it would make soley with the re-mapping. Thank for taking the to reply, cheers, John.

Hi Simon
Thought i read on the Forester Forum that the 2.5 XT already has the TD04 turbo fitted as std and the 2.0 xt has the smaller turbo. Hope so as a remap and sports cat are on my shopping list at the moment
