2006 WRX Hawkeye Exhaust
Hi all,
Need some help having decided to hang on to my lovely black and very stock WRX I am now thinking about upgrading.
My goal is to hit the 320/340 BHP mark and try to keep it looking as stock as possible (please note the TRY). As I don’t have a massive budget I have decided to start by getting the thing breathing properly.
I have installed a high flow panel filter which has made a very slight difference but now want to turn my attention to the exhaust. But to be honest I am really finding it all a bit confusing.
I don’t necessarily want to de-cat the car and I am not going to have the chavy backed bean can hangout the back of the car either.
So I am wondering if anyone can recommend a high flow cat based system that will keep the onikers away from me but yield a decent power gain.
Once this is done I will look to upgrade the intercooler, injectors and re-map the ECU.
Thanks in advance for your help with my silly questions but it is really doing my nut in trying to figure out what I need.

Decatted short centre section and a Prodrive rear box will see you to that power, while keeping the std main downpipe cat.
The intercooler won't need changing and the injectors are the same as an STi.
Only thing worth changing is the fuel pump.
This set-up will be invisible and is essentially the equivalent of PPP but far cheaper.

for a start you don't need to upgrade intercooler, or injectors (they are 550's)
intercooler good for 350 bhp
fit sports cat 2.5 or 3'' exhaust turbo back with re map should be around 280 bhp and 340 ft/lbs
to get to 340 you will need new turbo
VF34 would give you 340bhp/400ft/lbs

As addison said, without changing the turbo, you will struggle to get to 340bhp with a wrx. A decat and remap on an Sti normally see's 340's.
I would think with a sports cat, fuel pump and a remap you should see around 280bhp, which is still a fair bit more than PPP on a wrx and more importantly it will be alot more driveable with power available everywhere.

if its a 2.5L i would go for VF34 -The VF34 is the latest and greatest IHI turbocharger. It's a ball-bearing design, too, so it spools up fast and presents less drag at high rpms. This is the factory-issue turbo on the Japan market STi-version WRX.
If its 2L then the VF43 -The VF43 comes stock on the '07 WRX STi, and is a terrific upgrade turbo for the 2.0 WRX. It's just like the older VF39, but this turbo sports an upgraded wastegate design for better boost management. It can support up to 320 hp at the wheels, and it bolts right up.
