Can anyone help ?....lack of power in rev range thru turbo.
Hi i'v recently bought a 1995 v2 wrx import. and its just started to severly cut power at about 5000 revs in the boost range, it feels like hitting a brick wall when it gets to this point. i'v no idea what this can be and am pretty stumped. the car has just overgone a full engine remanufacture by a member of the F.E.R and has just done 900miles so pretty much run in. Please if anyone can throw some ideas my way it'd be much appreciated Many thanks

Sounds to me like your with hitting fuel cut or the coils are crusty!
Are you gertting overboost??
When the coils gave up on mine - its was like having good boost and pwer then (like you said) hitting a brick wall - were the coils replaced??

Thanks for the replys guys,
The engine was rebuilt by Paul Inch Engine services from Plymouth, I bought it with a missfire so i sent the lump for a full rebuild because i found no compression in no.3 cylinder also this coil pack was completely shagged. The no compression turned out to be a melted piston, also the crank had a regind as was damaged from ****y oil in the engine. I'v been running it on super plus unleaded and its had mineral oil in it as recommened for the running in period. It has been runnng sweet until last night, i'm not sure what boost pressures i'm running as i haven't a gauge to fit yet but this is my highest priority. I will take it to my local subaru specialist and tuner when it has hit the 1000Miles and got some semi synthetic oil in and get it on the rolling road/dyno diagnostics, till then i'm completel stumped. Thanks again for your input i'll borrow a mates gauge this weekend just to see what pressure i'm running
Cheers Tom

Its probably failed again then, you dont regrind subaru cranks, you throw them in the bin and replace with a new one, any decent engine builder will tell you this, go have a look at enginetuners website, think they are near you and get some advice off them
