Default CEL after oil change????

Hi all
did my oil change this afternoon, disconnected the crank sensor to prime the system, reconnected it fired her up, let run for a few mins the checked oil level. Level was fine so turned off and put all my tools away. Turned car on to go shopping and got a lovely CEL?? any ideas?
Can i reset it or is it a dealer thing, anyway to read it with out a reader?
thanks in advance

It should go of it's own accord if it's simply related to the crank sensor being disconnected

thanks for the advice mate, it would seem my WRX has a one off mod fitted called the ******** Detector :-) it basically throws a CEL see me panic and then monitors my broadband until its satisfied that i have posted on SN and SNOC begging for help or advice and then clears the CEL therefore making me look like a dick lol

damn clever those japanese and their hidden mods.

Started the car again after going for a 10 min drive and the light was gone, thank god.

I remove the fuel pump fuse instead of disconnecting crank sensor. Easy to do and no CEL nonsense.

^^ does that do the same thing as disconnecting the crank sensor?

with regards to the CEL light, ive had it once before when the garage overfilled the oil!

i got my mate to suck it out, it was a litre overfilled.

so thats another thing to watch for when a garage is doing it.

Or you can run some cable from pos batt termainal to the 12V trigger terminal on the starter, to turn motor over after oil change....
