What grade would you reccomend for a newage (2002) wrx running 370 BHP - gets revved quite hard due to laggy turbo and going to the Ring in May so want to do an oil change a couple of weeks beofre and again when I get back.

As a general rule...

Post 2000 cars running normal oil temps 100degC and below

5w-30 or 5w-40

Same as above running temps up to 120degC

10w-50 or 15w-50 (10w better for all year round)

Pre 2000 cars unless temps are exceeding 120degC

10w-50 or 15w-50 (10w better for all year round)

If you're not sure about use/temps/abuse etc....mail us on sales@opieoils.co.uk and we'll take a closer look at the facts...use/mods/temps etc.

10w-60 only for cars where temps are likely to cook the oil or fuel dilution is severe.

Cheers
Guy

Ooops!

75W-90 is OEM weight... so don't know whether you need to go thicker for 'arduous' use?

A really good 5w-40 would probably be best or a 10w-50, you're kind of in the middle of the two

As it's getting a hard time, go for the Gulf Competition, the Motul 75w-90 is fine for normal use, but you should use a better oil for track only use

If I put in your 5/40 then would you pick up the repair bill afterwards?
