I have recently bought a v2 sti ra off ebay. It has an ej22 bottom end and blown head gaskets. Im told its sti heads but not sure. It has a td05 turbo and grey injectors. I was under the impression that even the older sti's had vf turbos and yellow injectors. Is this the case? Also what ecu should i have?

 

if its got a ej22 bottom end it has been changed quite abit from what it would of been standard. can't help you much more than that other then to say if it is a ej22, the ecu should be a remappable one to get everything working right.

 

Check the block to see if it actually say's EJ22 or if it say's EJ20 and is stokered, either way it as belliott has said, will need remapping and declaring to your insurance co as the only scoob to come with the EJ22 CDB engine was the 22B

Might it not be from a legacy? or were they not CDB?

 

Dont think the legacy ones were cdb, the 22b blocks were like rocking horse poo, you just cant get them any more either

Its defo an ej22, last guy said its forged so it will be a legacy bottom end, this was the only thing he seemed to know about it. The standard ecu is still fitted so no map. As i said i bought it with a blown head gasket but am in the process of removing the engine. Due to no remap and most probably the wrong injectors i think its more likely its melted a piston than blown the head gaskets. Could someone confirm what ecu i should have and also where the grey injectors came from? Are these wrx injectors or do the older stis not have yellows? Who would know enough to build an engine but not know the fuel and map have have to be right
