Well taking that this is a 2002 STI it probably depends on several things, mileage, higher that is then the greater the chance you have to replace stuff on it, general overall conditon, better will be worth more, prodrive or non-prodrive version (body kit or not), one is slightly more desirable than the other, so your average value is around 6-6.5k on a decent example, knock about 3k off for the engine and you probably have your price (if not slightly lower).

i think breaking it would be maybe the better option if i can get it for 2000.00 the six speed box and diff set up is worth that then the heads turbo and so on , then wheels bumper lights all the inside

Early STI's have a non-DCCD speed gearbox, which in my opinion is only worth around £1500. Even I would like a DCCD box for mine, but I'm not paying £2500+ for one. As for turbo and heads.... if it is knocking they may well be full of swarf by now.

IMHO

P.S. Have seen complete STI motors on here and 22B for around £1200.

the head will be fine its not that bad and you try and buy a full sti six speed set up for a classic even non dccd with read diif rear shafts hubs hubs, brakes and prop for less then 2 grand i think not every breaker wil chagre 2500.00 and more like 3000.00 for dccd so 2000 grand for the lot is a nice price as soon as my mate heard a slight knock it was off the road and im not conived yet it is a the bottom end oh and good luck find ing your six speed for that money. i may not break it im toying with the idea of repairing it and selling it on. like i say my mate is a very good subaru man .. 1200 pounds would pay for the parts i need to fix it and labor is free

Good luck selling the parts if that's the attitude you have towards people giving you advice
If your mate is that good and you know better about the prices why ask

there no attitude intended but to say a full six speed set up is worth 1500.00 is just not true. speak to grade a or japerformance and they will laught at you if you think your get a the set up for that and then to offer me an unkown engine for 1200.00 which could go pop after a week is not of any use becuase if i do sell it on to a fellow suabru fan i want to now its going to last as i would not like to buy a car and it to go pop six months down the line , so sorry if he is your friend or somthing but im not interest negitive advise only positive

Sorry I misunderstood
But you aren't a Subaru breaker/specialist. Things are always worth a lot more from a business

Between £1500 & £2000 is a fair price for a 6 speed setup - I paid £1700 for the whole lot, box, linkage, diff, shafts, hubs, subframes, the lot. Maybe I was lucky.

I walked away from a bare box at £1300, as I've already got one.

There was a guy on here trying to sell a non-DCCD box for £2500, he dropped to £2000 and then took an undisclosed amount....

You are right, a business will charge more, but will give some sort of guarantee as to condition.

IMHO

IMHO I wouldn't touch an early box with high mileage, the synchros are weak, and there's a chance they'll be tired. Mine are
But I wish you well with the project, as there aren't many about at the moment.....
