2002 wrx sti type uk new owner....problems
Hi all,
Just bought a 2002 wrx sti type uk prodrive and have been sorting through the problems but would like some advice on a couple of bits.
The front drive shafts have some play in them (up and down & in and out) seems more play at the box end rather than CV end and both front wheels show some signs of CV grease on the inside of the wheels however boots are not split.
also clonk from o/s/f.
The car gives a bump bump bump noise on takeup in first gear only upto 5-10mph then its gone i,m thinking its the drive shafts??? any ideas?
I,m thinking replace both front drop links for the front knock?
Replace both drive shafts inc CV's .....can anyone else help?
Not sure if it helps any diagnosis but the car sometimes when say at lights on a hill if i let the car role back a little its like rolling over a rock etc?
cheers for any help

Doesnt do the noise in reverse or on full lock, although there is a click from the front o/s/ CV just a bump bump bump when you set off in first....almost like its taking up the slack in the driveshaft and i,m sure you can just feel it through the pedals!
From looking through the history it had a new n/s driveshaft 12months ago and the o/s CV re-greased.
