Default starter motor question

on the early blocks theres not two holes for the starter motor but on the late blocks/gearboxes there are.. how do you overcome this when using a early block with late gearbox. as i dont think one bolts a good idea lol

But theres a stud on the gearbox housing, so the long bolt, bolts through to engine and the nut threads onto the stud on the gearbox. Total 2 fixings
