fuel pump help please
hi, i had the rac called out to me today. i drove over to my mates house fine but when i went to start it up it wouldn't start. all the rac man did was jack the car up and hit the pump when i was turning it over. do i need a new fuel pump as it starts ok now again?

Chance are the pump was sticking and this may just be the beginning before it finally seizes, looking at your avatar you have a classic ,so your existing pump could well be 10+ years old. If it does start to play up , i have my pump of my classic which you can have as i upgraded to a walbro before i had it remapped.

Good advise that.... This is a known problem on classic scoobs, even if you decide to fit a pump you would be well advised to check that connector at the same time.

I fitted a Walboro on mine and about a year later I started getting problems. The car would judder and miss, eventually cutting out and would not restart, banging on top of the tank seemed to work for a few miles, but then it cut out completely. Luckily I was outside a Subaru dealer at the time and they helped me push it into their carpark and lent me some tools. My relay was working so I thought I would take a look at the pump. When I took the pump out the wiring on the pump had melted and broke. I'm guessing I didn't quite connect it properly when swapping to the Walboro. The Subaru dealer had a load of spare pumps left over after doing PPP upgrades so let me have the wiring off one to fix it. Having wires hot enough to melt whilst being in the petrol tank I found disturbing lol. Have you had the pump out to check that wiring or just the connector and wiring under the seat?
