Default RAC trackstar flat battery issue?

Hey all,

Anyone out there have the RAC trackstar tracker kit installed? Mine's be in for number of years now and I've chewed through 3 batteries in total. I've read a few forums about replacing batteries on the unit itself, eg:

What battery for an Evo VIII? - Page 2 - Mitsubishi Lancer Register Forum

I've had a look at mine and one box says "no user changable parts" and is rectangular and slim, the other is def the tracker unit board in similar rectangular box, cant find battery location - any ideas? Anyone replaced some before or seen an engineer do it?

There's one on mine - I haven't subscribed for 3 years but never had any battery problem.

Any chance you can send me a pick? swisstonihasher@hotmail.co.uk? I'm not sure which box to take apart, they all look sealed with no screws.

u will find the screws under the seals on the corners, they are torx/allen keys not actually screws,
Cant send you a picture as its been repaired and reinstalled sorry,
All I can say is the main unit houses the batteries.

Common problem on STi's (03/04) with Trackstar. Had to have the system replaced eventually as it was not going into "sleep" mode, so was constantly drawing current and flattening the battery. No problem after replacement.

Okay thanks, I'll take another look. I can remember 3 units fitted, one was like a heat sink (must be a transformer?), the other two were rectangular black boxes but couldn't see any screws/torx...
