Over the past two days I've aquired a metalic rubbing noise on my car. Best way to explain it is that it sounds like the bonet's not closed properly. It happens when going over bumpy ground and when going round left hand bends. I can't locate it sometimes it sounds like it's in the engine bay, other times it's over the passenge side. It's doing my nut in

The only thing I've changed recently is the full exhaust system but I can wiggle the exhaust and get no noise. I've tried to see if the heat sheild is catching but to my knowledge it isn't.

The car is a P1.

Please help!

Hi Mickle,
I had the same. My grill was loose.
If not what about the inner plastic wheel arches, they can also make noises. Or the heat shield may of cracked.
Cheers

Cheers Matt,

I'll get the heat shield out and have a good look, I'll get the grill off as well and go out for a drive, see what happens. The car's only 5 months old.

It's annoying cause I can wiggle the car and not a sound

I think I've cracked it!

On saturday I waxed my car and wax under the bonet as well. I reckon the rubber stops that the bonet rests on are rubbing on the waxed bonet and squeaking!

Dooooooohhhhhhh!
