Head gasket gone,Should i get a forged rebuild on my wrx?
I have got a my94 wrx (260ps model)and my head gasket has gone.
Im planning on keeping the car for a long time and im aiming for 500bhp in the future.I know it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a blobeye sti and then mod that, but i really want to keep my classic, and i know it will cost alot and i will need a 6 speed box, diff, drive shafts, good clutch, brakes and other supporting mods ect.
Would it be worth me getting a forged rebuild on my engine so it could take 500bhp + or would it be better for me to start off with a sti engine and then get that forged?
Also is there any good engine builders in west sussex which i could get some good advise and prices from?
Thanks for any info.
Edit; I just want to add that i dont have a set budget but im hoping i can get my engine forged which will be capable 500+ bhp for around £3000 ish is that going to be possible?

For £3000 I would say not, probably looking at more like £6000 as a bare minimum. I reckon your looking at spending at least £20k for a genuine 500bhp car.

Really £6000 sounds a hell of alot of money just on getting my engine forged to take 500bhp?
My budget is not set in stone but if its going to cost me £6k just for a rebuild alone,i would be alot better off buying a blobeye sti and modding that to 450bhp and not have to worry paying for a rebuild.

is the 94 open deck or semi closed, i thought you might have trouble getting 500 with an open deck
and you should easily get a forged engine for 3k, ive just bought a forged block for 700 quid, 3 months old - 9 months warrantee still left , yihaa
but you will spend alot and i mean alot on goodies, turbo, headers, exhaust, ecu, mapping, injectors, fuel rail, intercooler, induction, boost controller and i`m sure many other things i`ve forgot
what are you going to use it for btw, going up the strip - yes , daily driver - not worth it imho

You can get a forged block for around that money, thats the easy bit its all the supporting mods that will add up.
Building a classic to a genuine 500bhp car will take money, some spend alot more money than they need to to achieve that goal.

Cheers for the reply's im just trying to work out how much its going to cost me just to have a forged rebuild. When i said £3k thats not my budget i could up it but thats the sort of price i was thinking its going to cost me.
I will have to give engineturner a ring and see what price they can do for me.

you would be better off sourcing the stuff yourself and then getting a proffesional to build it, you can get alot of stuff from america as it`s a good exchange rate and works out alot cheaper.
i have seen quite a few ready built engines for sale from reputable ppl startting at 1500 quid where they have had a change of plan etc etc, obviously there is risk involved but if you buy off someone reputable or get it at the right price - who cares
that mho -it works for me but hey i love a bargain
