Default pistons and rings

hi last weekend i was out on a drive when my car suddenly started loosing oil from under the engine it's been to the garage and they said that it's probably a piston or ring... the boost is going into the crank and pushing oil past the crank seal under boost....

what i was wandering was how much this would cost to fix if i did the work myself? it's a 95 wrx import thanks

I'd be asking more questions there.
Let me ask a few.
Does it misfire, particularly at idle? as in running lumpy
Does it smoke more than normal from the exhaust?
Does it smell oily?
Are you getting excess oil into the turbo intake from the breathers?
Which end of the engine is leaking?

You can PM me if you like..
