Default Wheels 17" or 18"

Whats the benifits of having 18" wheels apart from the looks? Ive got a blobeye and not sure which would be best.

Cheers

Just that - looks.

Don't need more than 17" for good handling, etc. Ride can be crashy on 18s and possible tramlining issues. They do look good though - esp. 18" gold Speedline Turini on the New Age IMO.

I found an improved ride, less choppy when i went from 17's to 18's, although that is probably down to the different tyres, back to 17's at the moment though after a high speed blowout.

Forgot to add...

Obviously the bigger the alloys, the bigger the brake set-up you can run. Very handy

On a newage 18s with the right tyres will ride well and produce a nice handling car. 18s only need to be avoided on a classic, due to needing to run elastic band tyres to clear the arches.

Do a search on here and look for Mike Wood's posts on moving over to 18" wheels for better handling on the Newage......... I guess he should know as he works for prodrive LOL

Ive got 18's on my classic and I can honstly say there the worst thing I ever did, Ive had to use 40 profile tyres to clear the arches and even then when ive got anyone in the back the rears scrape when going over a bump and this has made the ride very harsh.

They do look nice but I will be swapping to 17's very soon

Would have thought 17" would be better. Something about enertia effect means smaller wheel better acceleration or something to that effect. Or make sure 18" are lightweight.

for speed or acceleration it doesn't matter if 17 or 18, it depends on the circumference and alloy weight, personnally i've the same circumference as when i was running on 16. just choose a good tyre and good alloy
cheers

I'd go for 17's.

I've run 18's before and they are murder on UK **** roads.
