Maf sensor?
Hi guys, driving home from work and the car suddenly developed a major missfire and was spluttering really bad. The check engine light flickered on and off. Does this sound like a maf sensor? The car has always seemed rich. I'm using an aftermarket induction kit and if it is maf sensor I'm going back to standard air box ect. Please could people let me know what they think. I know it's not easy to diagnose these things with out seeing the car but any help would be great. thanks, arran

Those symptoms, in particular the suddenness of onset, don't sound like a classic airflow meter failure, however it's always possible. Whatever the actual explanation, as the check engine light has come on it should be easy for you to diagnose.
Have a look at the instructions given to Kendo in this thread and you'll be heading in the right direction. Also, if you want specific help, you'll need to tell us what car you've got and what state of tune/modifications are on it.

No fault codes registered. So i took maf off and cleaned it a bit and it drove just fine to and from work. But about 2 miles from home it happened again. Worse this time. Almost completley cut out at one point. No check engine light this time. Very confused
