sti type r v-limited vs non v-limited
im going to view a version 5 v-limited type r at the weekend and wanted to know what to look for to ensure the car is a true v-limited as the applied model codes are the same for both the v-limited and non v-limited. also am i right in thinking that the version 5 did not have a v-limited plaque inside the car, all help greatly appreciated as i dont want to get this 1 wrong, thanks.

The version 5 cars were not "V-Limited" but "limited edition"
They dropped the "V" after the version 4 cars.
The version 5 sti type r limited does not have a plaque as it was built within a certain time frame and not to a deteremined build no..
Main difference is the colour and the roof vent...
I have the brochure download somewhere and will post it as soon as i find it...

Bit of a minefield really as the "V" refers to a Victory in a rally somewhere and a limited edition run of cars to celebrate, hence the V-Limited.....
after they ran out of victories to celebrate they just had the "limited" left to play around with !! They had WRX / STi limited models running side by side as well ..
Any link to the car you are looking at ??

Looks like a WRX Type R STi Version V limited.........(2 door coupe with the Retna body shell) red seat bits, roof vent, side decals and no plaque. It should have a pink badge but note the front end has a new splitter so might have been changed. not much different from the standard V5 apart from the roof vent really.
I see they label it as an RA in the advert..But..
The WRX Type RA STi Version V Limited 4 door had all blue seats with stitched logos (horrible IMHO) but black seats in the rear, pink badge etc........the RA version was a true limited edition of 1000 and has a serial number badge....being a limited edition car car.
They also did a 4 door WRX (non-sti) RA Limited with all blue front seats etc. and numbered plaque, 1000 made.
All in all it's a Version V type R in sonic blue with a roof vent ..
Is that OK rooferman

i spoke to the guy regarding the splitter, i know that they didnt come with a front splitter, he said he had put this on after he bought the car, regarding blue seats - i used to have a v6 sti ra wrc limited edition, i liked those seats lol, it definately looks like a v-limited just wanted to make sure, especially as he wants top dollar for the car! thanks for the replies.

But the ra version 5 car was also only "limited" and not a "V Limited" The plaque reads WRC 555 limited to be precise..
