As long as you have a remap afterwards yes
dont forget the TD05 is a Straight housing (My99 onwards) and 90 for pre 99 otherwise you will need to mod the straight to a 90 housing

It Is a Direct Bolt on.
Just make sure you get the right housing for your Model year.
>MY99 - Straight
<MY99 - 90 Bend
But you will not be able to bolt this on and run it without a slight map change,
if your looking for a TD05 i would assume you have a Uk car with a TD04?

you have got that wrong mate, the tdo5 only came with a 90degree up-swept inlet as standard and was only fitted as standard to pre facelift suabrus, they were not fitted to any subaru model after mid 96

Neil, if you buy a second hand MY93-96 16g as per your pic then you have to cut that snorkel intake off leaving enough of a collar for the turbo inatke hose to clamp to.
Or you might be able to send it to Andy Forrest so he can change the compressor housing over to a 'straight entry' one, as per in Darc's pic - but it'll cost more, obviously...
Or just buy a brand new, slightly modded one from Andy (spools a bit quicker than the OEM one). If you intend to run the 16g close to its max of 340+bhp, then no point in chucking loads of boost through a turbo of at least 13y 8m old! - who knows how much longer it'll last?!... Best to get AF's one...

16g was only ever 90 entry degree standard turbo fitted to the impreza, 18/20g were after market only and only came in straight entry

like you stated the 18g 20g are straight housing as they are a after market product

I'd say you need to make sure you can have at least 10mm of collar left so that the intake hose can clamp around it with a jubilee clip. If not then a machine shop will have to weld a shallow section of suitable diameter metal pipe to the 'stump' that'd be left...
