Default Throttle Position Sensor

Hi there,

i have had a check engine light come on when idle but when i press the accelerator it goes off after some great feedback from this forum i have diagnosed the fault as (31. Throttle Position Sensor).

I just need to know if i need to buy one specific to my model i.e wrx, sti etc.. or if any classic impreza one will go stright on. Also will it need callibrating once installed or will it simply plug in and off i go..

Any help regarding this subject would be greatly appeciated as the faulty sensor is causing havoc whether it be idle or at the end of the revs...

Cheers gav

The different classic throttle bodies have different TPS designs so you'll need to replace it with the correct one. There's no difference between STi and WRX/UK Turbo 2000 within a model year but you will need one for the correct phase.

If as per your other posts you have a 96MY car then you'll almost certainly need a 95 or 96MY replacement. I'm not sure whether the 97-8 one will fit but I'd be pretty sure the 99/00 one won't.
