Manifold Helicoil
Hi Guys
Anyone had experience in Helicoil or similar ?
Even better does anyone know anyone in or around surrey that can undertake it?
I need a Helicoil insert put in one of the manifold stud holes, it pulled the thread out when tightened and so needs replacing
Thanks in advance !

Helicoils are basically straightforward and commonly used on stripped threads in alloy.
1. Identify the thread size you are replacing (manifold are M8 IIRC)
2. Purchase a helicoil insert kit for this size
3. Drill the hole out with the drill size stated in the kit
4. Tap the hole with the tap supplied
5. Postion the thread insert on the end of the inserter with the tang in the slot
6. Screw the thread into the hole until it is a good thread below the top of the hole
7. Use the mandril type tool to break the tang off
8. Use the new hole as the old
Have used this one set from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HELICOIL-TYPE-...item5639350311
