Re-map after your de-cat should see 270-280 bhp (have you had it mapped already?). To go futher you will need a different turbo, injectors, prob uprated intercooler and re-map. What figure are you after and what is your budget?

nah i havnt had it mapped yet, all ive done is done both the de cats with a vortex back box and a k&n, a set of 17'' rays lightweight monoblocks,
i have bought a td05 but not fitted it yet
i was hoping to get around the 300bhp mark

with a tdo5 16g, sti8 tmic or fmic,fpr,and a walbro 255 pump u should be set.
my99 cars have 440 injetors standard, i did all the above had it mapped and made 340bhp, but beware the gear box wont last at that power.

well i will spend what ever is needed i suppose but ideal the less i can spend is better
so id like say £500 but i suppose i could go to £1000
hope that helps guys
also i saw ecu on ebay a few weeks ago it was had been remapped to 270bhp with just a de cat and air filter, it was off a my99 uk turbo, was wondering would this fit on my car and how would i go about and what would i need?

Your car is 10 years old, standard UK impreza, that was 212BHP out of the factory. Decat will make the car rev freer but will NOT add 70BHP, without extra fuelling and a remap. you stated you have a TD05-20G. is this an ebay item or bought from a reputable dealer. the chinese clones of ebay while cheap are not good at making power. to just bolt this on without other modifications will just ruin the drivability of your car.
My recommendation would be brakes and suspension. Subaru modification can be done on a shoestring but it takes a long time. the power upgrades you want are going to cost money as they are better done all in one go. eg FMIC, new turbo, bigger injectors, FPR, new programmable ECU, better plugs, remap by specialist.
Enjoy the car for what it is. I have said before many times, it's not the buying of the car that's the problem, the bitch is the upkeep.

well thats fair enough, but im simply looking for around the 300bhp, i didnt realise it would be so costly,
this is my 1st scooby and i dont know much about them (previous to this car ive only rs turbo's and a saff cosworth)
just abit confused now on what to do

rs scooby, you still haven't told us what TD05 variant you have?
But even if it is a 16g, then you'll easily get over 300 (well, should do if you get it mapped by a reputable mapper).
Your MY99/00 TMIC will be the limiting item - prob to around 310-330bhp, or thereabouts.

Boys, boys, boys.
If only it was that simple. just bolting on a turbo is not going to make the power, it will just make your car a laggy piece of **** to drive. you have to get the fuelling right, the air intake right, the timing right. rs scooby you didnt say where you got the 20G from. is it the right fitment for your car? are you confident you can fit the turbo and get the ancillaries right, the map sensor fitted. is your ecu remappable, if not then your going to need an ESL daughterboard for your ecu or a complete replacement ecu like ECUTEK. you then have to get someone competent to map your car for performance as well as safety or else you will end up with a big bill when your engine calves itself. remember this is a 10 year old car. tired internals, poor service history, previous owners all have an impact on the reliability of the car. you are asking an engine that was manufacured to produce 212hp to now produce 300hp, that is no mean feat.
i don't want to sound patronising here, but you need too understand how engines work and make power. there are so many variables here and one wrong move and your pride and joy is a piece of junk. seriously, speak to a business that specialises in subaru, independant tuners that have a genuine love of the car and are not out to stoke you at every turn. they will advise you on what to do to your car depending on your budget. and thats the big thing here. you can spend £40K on an all singing, all dancing, fire breathing monster if you want. the sky's the limit here. you have started from the most difficult position here, in that you have a classic shape car. you need to spend a helluva lot more money on them to make power. the new age cars are better setup and you can make the same amount of power for a lot less money . technology changes and gets better but the new age cars are just so much better for this sort of thing.

bigsinky- i didnt know that about classic
i knw it a 10year old car but its well documented, full history,1 owner (im the 2nd) never damaged or moded, very clean, it took to 2 year to find a classic shape which had not be shaged just like ur saying,
but i fully understand what your point of view and it very good advice thanks m8 will have a think about it

I'll be going JGm when the turbo is on.
Bigsinky, I understand what you are saying. All engines are and can react differently.
But 300+bhp on a classic with TD05, decat and remap, had been done many times before and is not exactly a huge benchmark anymore.
I see in your profile you are making 11 second quarter miles. So you are in the 450+bhp league, which is a whole new kettle of fish and doesn't really apply as much here where the making of 300bhp is concerned. Don't mean that in a negative way at all.
