Oil cooler installation question.
I recently bought some gauges & with them I bought a sandwich plate adaptor for oil temp & oil pressure pick up. (Not fitted yet)
In the future I want to get a Mocal Oil cooler & have seen that these need to be plumbed in using their own sandwich plate.
So should I not use the sandwich plate that I have with my gauges & instead pick up oil temp/pressure from blanking nut in engine. Or is there any way to use my gauges sandwich plate & in future fit an Oil cooler too?
Thanks

If you get to the point of installing a cooler, the optimal way to do it would be to relocate your temp/pressure gauges to the top of the engine, yes.
However, this is the wrong time to be asking the question. There's only a point to the oil cooler if you actually need one. If you haven't even fitted the gauges yet you have no idea what your running oil temps are, and therefore haven't ascertained the need for the cooler.
If your oil isn't actually overheating at the moment, fitting the cooler would be counter-productive, so establish the need first, then you can either deal with it, or be happy in sticking as you are.

It's not ideal, but then again it's not ideal to run an oil cooler if you don't actually need one. As above, establish how well the modine is (or isn't) coping first.
Once you have the temp gauge there'll be no need for "probably", that's the point, and doubly so if you already have a Spec C(?). Fitting a cooler without establishing a requirement is likely to do more harm than good.

Definitely. No matter what base you're starting from, modifying on the basis of possibility is a bit dull. Whatever you're driving, put your gauges on, drive it as hard as you're going to drive it and see what happens. As ScoobyDoo says, installing the pressure and temp sensors on the top is preferable anyway.
