hi, i have recently brought myself a 98' 2000 turbo... possibly one of the best decisions i have ever made! ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
but when i drive around and see other impreza's, they have larger exhausts and enjoy a deeper and nicer sound than mine.
im assuming that my exhaust is the bog standard for my model, so im looking to upgrade.
im new to car modification, so would appreciate advice on what to choose and also how to do it!
thanks!

Welcome ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Bog standard will mean a double tail pipe back box, you dont get much of anything with the standard exhaust lol.
A few bits to remember, adding an exhaust will increase your insurance, check with them first, decatting your exhaust will fail your MOT unless you keep 1 cat in there (downpipe mainly) or go for a sports cat.
Also what sort of money are you looking at spending? £500 quid, 800 quid, 1000 quid?? (yes they can cost that much
)

im not exactly rolling in money (insurance and fuel
) but with a bit of time i might be able to get £500ish together for the mod.
should i be buying just the back box or the whole system?
thats propably a simple question, but im a noob to this!

I've just ordered a H&S silencer for my Turbo 2000. Should sound more like a Subaru.
Getting a full/half decat system, or sports cat system will require a remap and also you will have to tell your insurance company, most likely add to the cost of your insurance too, does on my company (A stupid ammount!). Should tell insurance about just a silencer too
.

I would also look at the cobra exhaust systems, those are very reasonably priced for what you get (500 quid would just about get you a full system inc sports cat ![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
)

I put a decat and a prodrive back box on for £150. £100 for a secondhand back box. £50 for a new centre decat pipe.
For your back box you can fit either newage or classic, the only difference is the hanger. The new age one goes the other way but you don't need it. I bent mine the otherway with a torch to make it fit.
