impreza maf hose breather? Help

i have a 97 impreza and the pie that came with the induction kit does not have the wee breather pipe attatchment is this nessesary or can i leave it off?
Or could i go mafless ? and how

not the actual filter but the breather pipe on the blue hard pipe ...so my new one does not have that is it ok to run without?

goes to the valve at the back on the left of the throttle body??
i have seen cars with it taken off and its only a breath.
why would a company want to just put a filter on it??? they never do.
so they make it look tidy and plum back into the inlet.
