quick question, can someone tell me the standard boost for a 2003 sti type uk?

when i purchased i was lead to believe it is standard, but seems to be hold around 16 psi, and rises a bit in 4th and 5th.

can there be any reason for this apart from it having a previous map on it?!

Not certain, but I think it's about 1.1 bar. If so, yours does seem std boost.
