Default Induction kit

Hi i'm having a HDI FMIC fitted this weekend for my 05STi.I'm running a MD555 turbo with all other supporting mods inc a Simtek to run up to and fingers crossed just above 400,my question is what induction kit do i run?
Do i use the cak that comes with the kit and just purchase the biggest filter that will fit in the inner wing or just go all out and buy something like a RCM one??

Thanks
Bernie

RCM K&N big cone (if you can get it to fit in the space available).

Their two big K&N's have a 160mm open flange - so you need a tuned spun ally trumpet (can get much cheaper <£30 ones on eBay).

Then a suitable short silicone joins the smaller end of that trumpet to the MAF's input flange - or direct to the turbo intake pipe if MAFless (might need to get a reducing type silicone - depending on the two diameters involved, etc).

I'm running mafless as i'm using a Simtek. I've looked on the RCM website and there £205 so if i need a silicone pipe also it's gonna be £270.
I've asked in the wanted section for a used one but no replies as yet.Is there another cheeper way of doing it??

bern, you don't need to get a replacement expensive silicone turbo intake pipe, as well!

Just need a short bit of cheap silicone that attaches the trumpet to your existing OEM black plastic turbo intake pipe.

- RCM K&N cone c.£70
- spun ally trumpet <£30
- silicone joiner <£15
- 2 large jubilee clips

Also, you don't want that £205 New Age Cone + bespoke trumpet kit, as that particular trumpet is designed for the MAF to attach to - which you now don't have! You'd be paying £135 for something you didn't need!

You need either of the top two £70 cones (depending on space, will dictate which shape you go for):-

Then you need to team it with this cheap, but perfectly servicable, tuned trumpet:-

Available in 3 sizes at the turbo intake pipe end - just choose the size that most matches the turbo intake pipe's mounting collar...

eBay. Just type silicon*, sort by "lowest price + p&p", then trawl through until you find the cheapest one that will fit both ends. It shouldn't cost more than £5-15...

So it's fine for what i'm aiming for to use the oem intake pipe (black one)

Thanks again

Yes.

You obviously need a 3rd huge jubilee clip too, to clamp the cone's 160mm base flange around the ally trumpet's flange. TBH, the RCM large cones may come with the jubilee clip, ready-supplied.

Also, the ally trumpet-to-turbo intake pipe short silicone joiner hose may have to be straight, 45-deg, 90-deg or 135-deg - depending on where the space is in your particular MY's engine bay...
