Default MY99 RB5 with PPP - How much boost????

had car rolling roaded and results werent great. max bhp achieved was 215bhp with 285Nm torque. Need to know what boost the ppp should achieve as it was running consistent 1bar but i think this may be too low?

any help appreciated so i can get back to my 238bhp!

It should be peaking at around 1.1 bar with the PPP ECU

What fuel are you running?

Try an ECU reset

As Rich said, try an ecu reset, could also have an issue with your boost solenoid (they do get clogged up ) or it could be the fuel your running, the PPP'd cars prefer 97+ ron fuel or they retard back, on v power etc your car should be running its full 250bhp rather than the 237bhp on unleaded.
Peak is just under 1.2bar, .9 is standard on the normal ecu.
Any other modifications or just the PPP?

Tony

i run car on v power, there are no modifications on car. i have noticed lots on forums about the restrictor, if this is missing will car boost early and not achieve full boost? just a thought but i am yet to investigate

yeah, mine sees just under 1.2 bar on the gauge sometimes, but settles to 1.1 bar most of the time and then drops off at higher revs

I have noticed that unlike the standard ECU that was the same boost, in all gears, at all revs, the PPP one seems to vary a little depending on your gear and revs, is this normal?

if the restrictor is missing, you'll be seeing actuator pressure of about 0.5 bar across the rev range, so it's definately got a restrictor fitted

try the ECU reset

You're correct to believe the car won't attain full boost if the restrictor is missing completely. However under these circumstances it'll struggle to develop more than half a bar - so it's safe to assume that you do have one otherwise you wouldn't be seeing 200+bhp. ECU reset and cleaning the pipework are, as above, good things to try.

Re. the boost target, as the others have said, it should (from anecdotal experience) be around 1.1 bar - but there was a thread on here the other week when someone with a (supposed) PPP ECU actually checked the memory location where the boost target is stored, and it came back with 0.98 bar, which is odd to say the least. If you have a diagnostic cable and a laptop PC, let us know.

It's an obvious question but worth asking: Are you 100% certain you actually have a PPP ECU - i.e. have you owned the car from new and have a fitting certificate?
