the standard valve is best, alot of scoobys have trouble when fitted with a vta dump valve such as poor idle, flat spots, poor fuel consumption etc..

I always had problems with VTA dump valves, I tried several recirc ones from Forge and they were great, tried the VTAa and poo... mine was modded a lot, remapped etc. but stalled after a mile or so on VTA even with same valve ( selectable ) of dedicated VTA valve.

Apart from chav noise factor there is no benefit in vta dump valve.

thats what happens the idle drops right down and tries to cut out!!! does look like it sticks a bit when i just rev it from under the bonnet. so looks like no chav noise is the way forward lol

if you like the noise, a turbosmart dualport would be best of both worlds. recircs at low boost, but vta at higher boost.

Which type of blitz bov is it ,is it the old one with the big trumpet or the supersound with the sus filter?.Are you sure that the air is leaking out of it,as they do not contain to many parts and the only place likely for a leak is either on the vacume elbow or in the actual vacume pipe itself. Does the car cut out when you try starting it,or at idle or when the revs increase. Also have you tried putting the standard recirc valve back on to see if the problem still occurs.
Looking at your profile picture,it seems you have a bugeye, which means the dump valve you have it bolts to the intercooler, unless you have a front mount fitted instead.A bit more info as to when the car actually cuts out might help as to ascertain what might be the problem.

The idea that these "half and half" valves are a compromise, or offer the "advantages of a VTA without the problems", best of both worlds, etc. etc. is, from a technical point of view, a myth. If it vents to atmosphere at high boost, that means it'll be sending your mixture calculation over the place when you're pressing on, which is the point you most need it to be correct.

Must agree with splitpin on the dualport valve theory, can't really see any point in these because most dump valves only make a noise (vta) when you are above 3000/3500 rpm,so no real gains to be had by recirculating the air back in to the system when your at low revs, and then vta like a normal dump valve does when your giving it plenty, which can be quite often ,depending on how you drive your impreza.

Nothing from the o/p to suggest it is poor idling problems, and if it is as you state : " apart from solving the poor idling of course "then a dual port dumpvale won't solve the matter, he would be far better putting on a STD recirc valve back on if your diagnosis is correct, as this is what Subaru supplied when the car was made.

I had a VTA on mine, it lasted about 4 days before it became irritating, put the recirc back on, there are no upsides to fitting a VTA unless you call sounding like a lorry's parking brake an upside.
