Default help please

hi just after a bit of help it mite seam like a stupid question but hear goes!
i bought a 95 wrx uk model 3 months ago with blown head gasket i took the engine out and repaired it all then refitted it. when i was workin on it there was no thermostat in it so i bought a new one put it in with the spring side facing into the engine not towards the rad, have been driving it for about 3 months with no problem then all of a sudden it failed and stuck shut!! ive taken it out and tested it in boiling water and its definatly stuck shut so i got another one but was wondering if i have put it in the wrong way or it was just a faulty stat? please advise me of which way round they go as im sure i put it in right way
cheers mark

To be honest mate, it makes no difference what year or market your car is from, as all the stats are fitted the same way round in the Scooby's.....

The spring faces the engine not the rad, which means that you have nothing to worry about
